SKY-001 vs traditional autoregressive LLMs key differences
Updated 2026-10-21. Independent summary, not a Skyfall AI publication.
Skyfall’s sharpest claim is architectural. Traditional autoregressive LLMs predict the next token from the tokens so far. They can describe a machine or emit a script that a CAD kernel might run, but the model itself is still a language model. Skyfall says engineering design is a poor fit for that loop once the plan is thousands of steps long.
The differences they stress
Representation. SKY-001 is presented as a latent world model that plans in a visual space. An LLM plans in text, even when the text is about shapes.
Hierarchy. SKY-001 is described as a composer that sets subgoals and refines parts, including in parallel. An autoregressive model has one chain, and errors can compound as the chain grows.
Construction. The world model is supposed to emit an ordered series of states — sketches and solids, or strokes of a floor plan — instead of one final caption.
The benchmark is then used as the practical argument: similar IoU to GPT-6 Astra on Skyfall’s set, at a reported fraction of the time and cost. That argument stands or falls with the vendor’s eval. It is not a proof that every autoregressive model fails at CAD.
What is not public
Skyfall has not published a parameter count, a license for the weights, or a public inference API as of the pages reviewed for this site on 21 October 2026. You can read the distinction without pretending the weights are available to reimplement.
Other labs also talk about world models and video or action prediction. SKY-001’s specific claim is the engineering slice: CAD and BIM construction, with a stated ambition toward the rest of the physical design stack.
Figures on this page are vendor-reported and were not re-run here.
